Beltran will defend his lightweight title against mandatory challenger Roman Andreev (21-0, 15KOs), August 25th in Phoenix, Arizona.
Russia’s Andreev is coming off of a 9th round TKO victory over Craig Evans in his last fight.
Top Rank won the rights with a successful bid of $252K. Per WBO request, Top Rank and other promoters must submit their boxers to doping controls. This will take place not only immediately prior to and after the title fights, but throughout the entire training phase of both combatants.
For Beltran, if he wins this fight he will more than likely move on to a unification clash with WBA and ring magazine lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko.
Currently, the WBA champion is recovering from shoulder surgery. His expected date of return is December.
