Edgar Berlanga makes quick work of Gregory Trenel
Highly touted middleweight prospect Edgar Berlanga continued his first round knockout streak, easily dispatching Gregory Trenel to make it twelve in a row.
The middleweight prospect from New York came out behind his jab, quickly looking to set up his big right-hand. It didn’t take long for him to find the range of his right and left hand. Midway through round one, Berlanga would land a left hook that would send Trenel staggering to the canvas.
Trenel would rise to his feet, but wouldn’t be let off the hook. Berlanga attacked the body, hurting his opponent again, then jumped in with a barrage of punches that would force the ref to jump in and halt the action.
Berlanga improved his record to 12-0, 12 KOs. With his first twelve fights not going past the first round, it’s hard to gauge his true potential. What we do know, however, is that he can punch hard with either hand.
He’s definitely a prospect to keep an eye on as he continues his rise from prospect to contender.
