Beterbiev vs Smith Jr IBF title bout cancelled!
IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (13-0, 13KO) has opted not to fight Joe Smith (24-2, 20KO) on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs Rocky Fielding December 15.
Apparently, the IBF champion realized he would not be ready for another fight so soon after his last one.
Beterbiev last defended his title October 6 against Callum Johnson in a grueling four round affair. It appears due the fight card being in Madison Square Garden, it’s the perfect opportunity for IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer to fill in as the for his second title defense.
This would be a great opportunity for DAZN to have an East Coast fighter on the card. In addition, providing Farmer excellent exposure on a major fight promotion.
