Bivol vs Barrera Next?

Negotiations have begun between the teams of WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol and once-beaten Sullivan Barrera. Barrera can become Bivol’s mandatory by defeating Felix Valera on November 25th in New York but the WBA has said they haven’t looked at ordering this fight.

Bivol just became the champion this past Saturday when he stopped Trent Broadhurst in the 1st round on Saturday in Monaco. That fight was for the Vacant WBA light heavyweight title that became vacant when Andre Ward retired back on September 21st.

This could be the opportunity was perhaps hoping for when he turned down a higher payday to fight Sergey Kovalev. Both Barrera and Kovalev are promoted by Main Event.
