Bozy Ennis Believes Crawford Should Have Stopped Madrimov
Philadelphia trainer Derek “Bozy” Ennis believes WBA junior middleweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (41-0, 31KO) should’ve stopped Israil “The Dream” Madrimov (10-1-1, 7KO). In addition, he stated that his son, IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis (32-0, 29KO), would have ended the night for Madrimov.
Despite defeating the Uzbekistani for the WBA title, Bud has come under heavy criticism for his performance on August 3. Boxing fans saw him get hit more than usual, and some say that Madrimov got robbed.
HIS SON WOULD HAVE SCORED THE STOPPAGE
Some boxing community members feel Boots Ennis should challenge Madrimov before stepping into the ring against Crawford. Being made aware of what the boxing public is saying, the Bozy explained to YSM Sports Media how it started.
“The reason why they saying that is because they heard what I said. If Boots were fighting Madrimov, Boots would have stopped him . . . I think Boots would have stopped him . . . if Terence had to sit down and start ripping them shots on him, Terence could have stopped him.”
It’s no secret that Team Ennis wants to fight Crawford and is willing to go junior middleweight if it means getting the fight. Saudi Arabian minister Turki Alalshikh once expressed interest in making Ennis versus Crawford a reality. With Alalshikh no longer pushing to make super middleweight kingpin Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Crawford, there is hope that a fight with Boots is back in play.
After shocking the boxing public by signing with Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, Ennis successfully defended the title against fringe contender David Avanesyan.
