“The First Lady” Cecilia Braekhus Returns!
3kingsboxing has learned the undisputed female welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus (34-0, 9 KOs) could be on the undercard of mega middleweight showdown Canelo vs Golovkin.
This is huge news, as it shows the level of appreciation for women’s boxing.
HBO recognizes Braekhus for being the first woman to fight on one of their televised events in 45 years.
Continuing to compete at a high level can also be attributed to the fact she stays busy. She fights at least three times per year, which is no easy feat at 35.
The First Lady made her US debut on the undercard of GGG/Martirosyan in May. Although she experienced the first knockdown of her career, she was able to weather the storm and decision Kali Reis.
The exciting matchup certainly left viewers wanting to see more of the only undisputed champion in women’s boxing.
Her potential return would mark the second time the champion will fight on US soil and 10th overall defense of her undisputed crown.
