Kell Brook eyeing December fight before potential Amir Khan clash
Former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook is targeting his ring return for December. He’s said he’d like to return on either the Canelo-Fielding card or the Dillian Whyte card, which take place on December 15 and 22, respectively.
Brook would be fighting for the first time since March, where he disposed of Sergey Rabchenko in two rounds. In that fight, he made his junior welterweight debut. However, he’s expected to drop back down to welterweight for his next fight.
Brook had this to say about his potential ring return
“I told [promoter] Eddie [Hear] I want a fight before Christmas and he said he’d get one, no problem. We don’t have a venue or an opponent yet, we will see what our options are.”
“There is a show in New York, Canelo Alvarez v Rocky Fielding I could get on. Or there is Dillian Whyte, at the 02 Arena in London on December 22.”
Brook had recently struggled to make the 147 pound limit, which is why he moved up in weight. However, he feels that after talking to his nutritionist he can safely make 147 again.
He had this to say on the weight issue
“I have spoken to my nutritionist Greg Marriott and I am absolutely sure I can get there [to 147]. He told me I’d have to stick to a plan and it is a hard plan but I can achieve that and stay healthy.”
All things seem to be pointing towards a huge UK showdown between himself and Amir Khan for the top of the new year.
