Buatsi looking to make his presence known on a big fight card!
Joshua Buatsi (6-0, 4 KOs), will be added to the Heavyweight showdown between Dillian Whyte and Joseph Parker.
The 24 year-old light heavyweight and amateur standout competed in the 2016 Olympics; winning the bronze medal.
Since turning pro in 2017, he has stayed busy fighting three times last year. This year, he will enter the ring four times.
Originally, Buatsi was scheduled to take on former British title challenger Ricky Summers for the vacant WBC International title. However, Summers had to withdraw from the contest.
The replacement will be Andrejs Pokumeiko (17-14, 13 KOs).
Pokumeiko, a 24 year-old Latvia fighter, has seen title shot opportunities and faced former world champions before. Having come up short each time, he still brings a different level of experience than Buatsi is used to.
Fighting for a title should add fuel to the train that is Buatsi, who is coming off a spectacular knockout victory against Stephane Cuervas.
Sky Sports has done a good job of finding replacements for the undercard of the heavyweight main event. They should be commended for how they have handled every obstacle.
This fight can be seen live on Sky Sports from the O2 arena July 28.
