Ricky Burns vs Lee Selby in the works!
3kingsboxing.com has learned two former world champions, Ricky Burns and Lee Selby, are closing in on an agreement for a fight that would take place on September 7 in the junior welterweight division.
This fight is sure to bring out the enthusiastic British fans who have enjoyed great fights from these two over the years!
Yet again, Selby (27-2, 9KO) would be moving up in weight. In his last fight, he moved up two weight divisions to lightweight and defeated contender Omar Douglas in February. The fight immediately before, he was nine pounds under at featherweight where he lost the IBF title to current champion Josh Warrington.
Burns (43-7-1, 16KO) is a three division champion who last fought in November of 2018; scoring a technical knockout victory over Scott Cardle. That fight gave him renewed vitality to continue his seventeen year pro career.
In comparison, Selby looks to be the fighter that would have more in the tank. However, it will be interesting to see how he handles the weight.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates on an official announcement.
