Ryan Garcia Continues Needling Gervonta Davis in Hopes of Making a Fight!

Lightweight contender Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (22-0, 18KO) continues to hound three-divisional champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis for a fight. This time he used undisputed champion Devin “The Dream” Haney’s fight as an example of what not to do in their fight. Davis wasted little time responding with a harsh message.

On Saturday, June 4, the boxing community witnessed The Dream fulfill the dream of becoming the true undisputed champion. However, Garcia was not impressed with the performance and used this opportunity to bait Tank into a fight. Davis, tired of all the nagging, was not in the mood.

Garcia was upset with his rival’s comeback and expressed his desire to fight even more.

Keep in mind, Davis has been down this road before with King Ry, only to be disappointed after agreeing to fight. So it should come as no surprise that the three-divisional champion is not in a hurry to revisit the fight again. Garcia spent the majority of 2021 overcoming outside issues and being away from the sport for over a year. In 2022, he was successful in returning to the ring against Emmanuel Tagoe on April 9.

PUMP THE BRAKES

Garcia has been barking very loud since returning to boxing. He went after Haney, Kambosos, Joseph Diaz, Teofimo Lopez, and Isaac Cruz. However, he has gone 0-5 in making a fight happen with all the names mentioned. On another note, after defeating Tagoe, Garcia proclaimed that he was not interested in call-outs anymore. His latest move to antagonize Tank into a fight implies a change to that policy.

King Ry needs to repair the faith of the boxing community. His upcoming fight with former WBA junior lightweight champion Javier Fortuna is a start. Considering the rankings of both fighters, it could be a WBC title eliminator.

There is no doubt that Garcia is one of the top young talents in a stacked division. However, he is going to have to apply less talking and more action if he hopes to rope big names into a contracted bout.
