Caleb Plant Feeling Sharp and Wants to Dominate at Super Middleweight!
With just a little more than a week until his second title defense, IBF world super middleweight champion Caleb “Sweet Hands” Plant (19-0, 11 KO’s) is feeling sharper than ever. This is precisely why he thinks he’ll make short work of his German foe Vincent Feigenbutz (31-2, 28 KO’s) on February 15 at the Bridgestone Arena located in Nashville, Tennessee.
SHARPER THAN EVER
For those familiar with Caleb Planet, they will understand and self-confidence is not a trait that he lacks! The slick defensive fighter has been assuring all that will listen that he is on a mission to become the first unified super middleweight champion in history. That story has not altered ahead of the upcoming dust-up with Feigenbutz.
In fact, Sweet Hands is sounding eerily similar to the way he did ahead of his three round destruction of Mike Lee in his last outing.
“I’m boxing super sharp right now! This is probably the sharpest I’ve been. Sharper than the Jose fight, sharper than the Mike Lee fight. I’m boxing super sharp right now.
“[thoughts on Feigenbutz] Yea, big record, lot of knockouts. He’s been the WBA interim champ and that’s more than a lot of guys that we do know over here. So I know he is coming to take what’s mine.
“I know this is the biggest moment of his life but he’ll fall short. My offense is more than it’s ever been, my punching power, my defense is just as slick. My foot work, I mean everything is on the highest level.”
GETTING OUT THE MUD
Although Plant would readily swear on a stack of Bibles that he is not looking past Feigenbutz, the native Tennessee fighter does have much greater ambitions than merely defeating his next out on February 15. Let him tell it, he is on a can’t-fail mission to unify the division.
“I feel like the super middleweight division is the hottest it’s ever been. You know, there are some good champions, a great champion [pats his own chest], some guys who are a little bit older but with big names who have been world champions and some prospects who are on the way.
“So, I think it’s a great time to be in the super middleweight division. I don’t really feel like anyone’s been able to take the reins and, you know, become unified or really take the reins and take control of the division, but I plan on doing that here soon though.”
If Plant is successful in mastering the super middleweight landscape in the fashion that he intends to, then he is sure he’ll get the respect that he believes has been denied to him thus far.
“No, I don’t feel like I get the respect that I feel like I deserve. I feel like there is a lot of people out there who think I’m just hype. That I’m not the real deal but I just keep doing what I do.
“They don’t have to take my word for it. They don’t have to give me the respect, I’d rather just keep working and keep winning and get my hand raised and earn it the hard way.”
