Callum Simpson Remains Undefeated After Beating Elvis Ahorgah
In a super middleweight showdown, the British Commonwealth champion Callum Simpson (17-0, 12KO) picked up another stoppage against Elvis “Soldier” Ahorgah (13-3, 12KO).
Simpson weathered Soldier’s early rush and started firing off beautiful combination shots. Fighting behind the jab, he repeatedly beat the Ghanian to the punch. A highly motivated Ahorgah landed several overhand rights in the third round. Yet, Simpson quickly regained control of the fight with hard body shots.
As the fight continued, Simpson attacked like a Tasmanian devil, landing punishing shots to the head and body. In the fifth round, he turned up the pressure and sent Ahorgah to the canvas after landing a barrage of punches. Despite Ahorgah getting up and narrowly beating the count, the referee stopped the fight. Soldier was on the verge of getting knocked out but still should have been given a chance to fight on.
It’s clear that Simpson is ready for the next level. During the post-fight interview, he mentioned the name of top contender Diego Pacheco. Matchroom Boxing Chairman Eddie Hearn should jump at the opportunity to make that fight a reality.
