Calvin Ford Slams Bill Haney Over Idea Of Devin Haney vs Gervonta Davis

In a recent war of words, tensions spilled over into the profane between chief second Bill Haney and Calvin Ford. The two briefly verbally sparred one another during an appearance on ThaBoxingVoice.

For a number of years, undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (29-0, 15 KO’s) has sought a match with regular WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (28-0, 26 KO’s). Despite his consistent attempts, Haney has been unsuccessful in this endeavor.

While the elder Haney was listing his reasons as to why this bout should take place, Ford joined the segment. As the long-time chief second to Tank, he instantly became gruff and antagonistic with Haney. In no time flat he went below the belt, literally and metaphorically.

“We’ll see! Devin has to handle his business and then we got to handle our business. We still got shit in front of us! Man cut the bullshit out! We’ll see like I said, we’ll see.

“Like my little young-gun’s say, ‘get off my dick, get off his [Tank Davis] and get off my dick too! That’s end of story!”

NO MORE TALK PLEASE!!

There is no question that this is an intriguing fight that would be a shame if it never became a reality. It certainly has been talked about for quite some time! Nevertheless, even if both fighters wanted to finally get in the ring to settle the dispute, both have business to take care of. While Davis is coming off a solid ninth round TKO of Hector Luis Garcia back on January 7, Tank still has an expected prizefight with Ryan Garcia in April.

Likewise, Haney is slated to go head-to-head with Vasiliy Lomachenko even though there has been no formal fight date announced for either of the two dust-ups. Let’s just hope this added rancor and vitriol is enough to push the two teams over the line into penning a Haney versus Davis duel! Yet, no matter what happens 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news.
