Negotiations for the trilogy between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin hang on the venue!
There’s more drama brewing between the camps of unified middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez and former middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.
3kingsboxing.com has learned the location of what would be a third fight between the two men is the reason for the delay of a finalized deal.
After what many felt was a very controversial draw in their first fight in September of 2017, the rematch again took place in Las Vegas this time with Alvarez securing a close disputed decision victory.
This go around, however, Golovkin has made it clear he will not face Alvarez for a third time in Las Vegas. His preference is to stage the fight in New York City at Madison Square Garden or AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas.
John Skipper the executive chairman of DAZN is pushing for the fight with both Alvarez and Golovkin who they have committed nine-figure contracts. The need for this fight is to generate more subscriptions.
Reportedly, Oscar De La Hoya will start to look at other opponents for Alvarez who’s scheduled to return on September 14.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
