Brian Castaño vs Erislandy Lara set for March 2 at the Barclays
Former WBA junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara will have a chance to regain a version of that title when takes on current WBA regular champion Brian Castaño.
The two men will clash March 2 in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Arena. The fight will be televised on Showtime.
In his last ring outing, Lara lost a razor-thin split decision to unified champion Jarrett Hurd.
At 35 years of age, Lara can’t afford another setback as he’s entering the twilight of his career.
For Castaño, the Argentine is undefeated with a record of 15-0 and 11 knockouts. His last ring appearance was against southpaw Cedric Vitu, where he scored a twelve round TKO.
The Vitu fight, in essence, was done in preparation for Lara; one of the better skilled southpaws in boxing.
Lara will have a chance to prove he’s still elite, while Castaño can potentially put the final touches on Lara and his career.
It’ll be an interesting fight to say the least.
