Undisputed junior welterweight champion Chantelle “Il Capo” Cameron (17-0, 8 KOs) is days away from the most significant bout of her career. On May 20, the 32-year-old defends her titles against reigning undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor (22-0,6 KOs) at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Cameron is bubbling with enthusiasm.

EXTREMELY FOCUSED

The 140-pound champion understands that she will be fighting on enemy territory. The bout is taking place in Taylor’s home country. During an interview with Matchroom Boxing, Cameron said she’s prepared to handle what should be an electric atmosphere on fight night.

“I’m more than ready, I’m raring to go. I look into her eyes, and she’s ready. It’s her homecoming. This is fighting in front of her people. It’s going to bring the best out of her and definitely the best out of me.”

This fight came about when Taylor’s May 20 rematch with undisputed featherweight champion Amanda Serrano was canceled due to a Serrano hand injury. Cameron said she was willing to fight Taylor instead. Representatives for Cameron and Taylor went to work at the negotiating table, and the fight was made.

LOOKING TO DOMINATE

Taylor believes her skill will be the difference and predicts she will leave the ring with her hand raised in victory. When asked about her thoughts on the fight, Cameron said she intends to show her superiority.

“My work-rate is going to be too much. Too much pressure, too strong, too big, just a nightmare to be in the ring with . . . I’m here to take the win, and I’m here to really beat her up.”

Cameron has targeted a fight against Katie Taylor for several years. At long last, she gets her dream fight. This is her shot to show that she’s the best women’s boxer in the world.
