Chantelle Cameron Needs To Forget Taylor And Fight Sandy Ryan

One-time undisputed junior welterweight champion Chantelle “ll Capo” Cameron (19-1, 8KO) continues to want the trilogy with undisputed champion Katie “KT” Taylor (23-1, 6KO). However, she should target a fight with WBO welterweight champion Sandy Ryan (7-1-1, 3KO).

After leaving Matchroom Boxing over not getting the trilogy, Cameron found a new home with Queensberry Promotions. On July 20, Il Capo defeated junior lightweight title challenger Elhem Mekhaled by a majority decision in her debut bout.

This victory put her close to a title shot after winning the vacant WBC interim title. Cameron wasted no time in the interview with Queensberry Promotions that a Taylor fight is still a top priority.

“I want my belts back…I want the trilogy. I want to get my redemption…I may be naive. I may be looking into something that’s never going to happen, maybe it isn’t. But, it’s what I want. I want a chance to beat Katie Taylor again.”

LOOK IN ANOTHER DIRECTION

Cameron must accept that the trilogy won’t happen, especially with Taylor set to rematch unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano. She could move up and look to fight the WBC welterweight champion in the meantime.

There is a history between the two fighters, as they had a heated verbal exchange on social media in April.

Boxing fans thought a fight was on the verge of possibly happening from their war of words. In addition, Cameron can gain satisfaction with a victory over Ryan because she helped Taylor prepare for the rematch. That storyline adds extra motivation both fighters would use as fuel during the build-up to the fight.

All the ingredients needed to make this a potential massive fight in the United Kingdom in there. The only things left to do is make it happen.
