Jermell Charlo vs Terence Crawford anyone?
As the days continue on without boxing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fighters have been on social media more than ever! This has led to back and forth trash talk.
The latest in the “social media saga” has WBC junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo (31-1, 17KOs) and WBO welterweight champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (36-0, 27KOs) trading words.
Jermell Charlo, who’s very outspoken, took to social media to tell Crawford not to bite off more than he can chew, while also letting him know “he can’t fuck with EJ (Errol Spence Jr).”
Not one to back down from anyone, Crawford replied telling the fellow champion “he too shall see” and followed up by saying “don’t make me show you who’s the real king of the jungle is.”
A fight between these two would no doubt get the fight fans excited, there’s a couple of problems. Crawford is a welterweight (147lbs) and Charlo is a junior middleweight (154lbs). While Crawford could move up and challenge the bigger man, he, like Charlo, has major unfinished business in his respective weight classes to tend to.
Charlo has recently come out and stated that his sole focus is on becoming undisputed junior middleweight champion. Crawford, on the other hand, has major fight opportunities at welterweight with unifications against Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence, or fights against former champions Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia or Shawn Porter.
This trash talk only fuels the eagerness for boxing to resume, which will allow for these fights to happen.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
