Charlo could return December 22 against Sulecki.
It appears that top middleweight contender Jermall Charlo (27-0, 21KO) may return December 22 vs Maciej Sulecki (26-1, 10KO). He recently announced the date on social media, however, an opponent had not been determined at that time.
Now the former junior middleweight champion seemingly has found a solid contender to lock horns with.
Sulecki fought to a competitive unanimous decision loss in April against Daniel Jacobs. Furthermore, he gained his first career defeat. Some observers watching the fight felt the decision could’ve went his way.
Next, he potentially has another chance against a top fighter to prove himself. Standing 6’1″, Sulecki showed in his fight with Jacobs the ability to box and fight. Although he was dropped, he showed toughness in getting up and continued to show his competitive spirit.
For Charlo, this would be his first fight since April where he crushed Hugo Centeno Jr; a man Sulecki also stopped previously.
This may not be the fight the Houston native was looking for, especially considering the WBC ordering to have him face Gennady Golovkin next. However, it’s a good consolation bout.
