WBA regular champion Manuel Charr states he is currently negotiating to be Jarrell Miller’s replacement!
According to WBA regular heavyweight champion Manuel Charr (31-4, 17KOs), he’s in negotiations with unified champion Anthony Joshua as a possible replacement for Jarrell Miller who tested positive for a banned GW1516 (details here).
This comes as a surprise as Charr himself has been plagued with drug issues recently. He was scheduled to defend his title against #3 ranked WBA contender Fres Oquendo on September 29, 2018 but tested positive for steroids.
This put him on more than a year long layoff since he last beat Alexander Ustinov in November 2017. Questions of how effective he would he be in a fight of this magnitude would definitely arise.
This news will surely be met with negative feelings considering the likes of names like Luis Ortiz, Dillian Whyte and Adam Kownacki being available replacements.
We must consider there’s only five weeks left of a viable training camp for the replacement before June 1 and a fight with Whyte or Ortiz would take longer to negotiate, despite what Ortiz says. He wants to be compensated fairly!
