Cherneka Johnson Dominates Susie Ramadan in First Title Defense
In the first defense of her IBF super bantamweight title, Cherneka “Neekz” Johnson (14-1, 6KOs) would take on former WBC bantamweight champion Susie “Susie Q” Ramadan (29-3, 12KOs). Johnson won the vacant IBF title in her previous fight, defeating Melissa Esquivel by a majority decision.
Ramadan went into the fight looking to become a two-time champion. She is 3-1 in her last four fights, including a loss to Mexican legend Mariana Juarez in 2018 in her bid to become a two-time WBC bantamweight champion. At 43 years old, Ramadan hasn’t been the most active, fighting only eight times since 2016.
JOHNSON DOMINATES DESPITE NASTY BLOODY CUT!
Cherneka Johnson started her first title defense with a smooth first round by jabbing Ramadan to set the pace of the fight. However, adversity would rear its ugly face after an accidental clash of heads opened up a nasty, deep gash over the left eye of the champion.
As the fight went on, Johnson continued to dominate Ramadan. All the while, she managed her nasty cut that left her looking like a horror movie victim! Showing major resolve, she would manage to score a fourth round knockdown with her left jab. After a one-sided bout, Johnson would be announced as the winner via a unanimous decision. The scores were 97-90, 96-92, and 96-91.
