Dereck Chisora wins lackluster bout!
Former world title contender Dereck Chisora returned in his first fight since his shocking knockout loss to Dillian Whyte in December 2018. This was also his first fight with new trainer Dave Coldwell.
For ten rounds it was EXTREMELY difficult to stay awake! Not because Chisora fought a terrible fight but because his opponent Senad Gashi put up zero effort to try to win!
It seemed that once Gashi realized how hard the British fighter could hit, he decided this would be a bout for survival. Many like to say the defensive prowess of Floyd Mayweather was made up of him running from opponents.
However, Gashi displayed the perfect example of a running fighter! There was even a point in the seventh round where the German born Spanish fighter turned his back and jogged away from a pressuring Chisora!
In essence, this fight was terrible because Gashi only wanted to keep from being knocked out. You can’t really blame him for not wanting to be embarrassed in the O2 Areana, however, he may have just made it difficult to secure a fight in the future!
