Does Conor Benn Have a Rematch Clause with Chris Eubank Jr?
Middleweight contender “Next Gen” Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KO’s) defeated Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (23-1, 14 KO’s) in thrilling fashion. Boxing fans shouldn’t be surprised if there is a rematch.
Technically speaking, there has been insinuation of a rematch clause being involved with the duel. The particulars of said rematch clause are also murky at best. The crowd cheered as the two men put on an epic performance with Next Gen winning by unanimous decision (116-112).
Eubank was already the bigger man who was further leashed with a next-day rehydration clause. With that being said, Eubank may happily agree to a rematch minus the rehydration clause and perhaps a renegotiated catchweight.
If Eubank chooses to move on from The Destroyer, then he can pursue a title shot. With his #3 (IBF), #3 (WBC), and #8 (WBA) standings, there are some interesting options such as unified champion Janibek Alimkhanuly. There is also WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames to pursue.
Yet, given the success of the Benn fight, the smart money is on seeing a rematch which would be an even bigger financial payday.
