Claressa Shields Maintains That Savannah Marshall Is Easy Work
Since her amateur days, three division champion Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (11-0, 2 KO’s) had her name linked to WBO middleweight champion Savannah “The Silent Assassin” Marshall (10-0, 8 KO’s). This because Marshall is the only person to serve T-Rex a loss in the amateur’s or professional ranks. As one would imagine this has proven to be a great irritant for Shields.
If given her way she would love to mix-it-up with Marshall to settle the matter once and for all. In fact, back in 2018 Team Shields made a fight offer to the Silent Assassin which was turned down. Team Marshall felt that it would be a sounder idea to let her skills marinate a bit longer. Now, the time seems perfect. Marshall has had a few more years to develop, she is now a champion herself and the two are both signed to Sky Sports.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!
Let Shields tell it, time and experience will do little to benefit Marshall should the two ever compete in the ring again. As further evidence of this, T-Rex provided Sky Sports Boxing with a quick tale of when she last graced the ring with Marshall.
“I’m happy that me and Savannah Marshal are both signed to Sky Boxing. I’m hoping that the fight can get made and she can finally face up to what she has been running from. Because what she don’t even speak of, me and Savannah sparred in 2016 right before the Olympics and I whooped her ass! I had her face as orange as this hair! But she don’t speak on that.”
“She has not been better than me since I was 17 years old and I’m 26. That’s why she hasn’t accomplished what I have accomplished. The sparring session was simple, I had my hands down the entire time, she could not land not even a punch on me.”
“I pulverized her for four rounds and everybody in the gym, Shakur Stevenson was there, who else was on the team? Charles Conwell, boxers who are coming up right now were in the gym and they was like, ‘dang that’s the girl that beat you when you were 17?’ Yup! They was like, ‘she can’t do nothing with you now!’ Everybody in the gym said that.”
WHY WAIT?!
Yet, rather than continue to haggle over the past, Shields would prefer to look to the future.
“But it doesn’t matter because now we both signed to the same promotion, right? To the same Sky, so the fight should happen and we’re going to see who has been lying this entire time. Which I’ve already said, me and Savannah Marshall can fight in December. She wants to wait until end of the next year, so that just tells you there who’s ready and who’s not”
“I will be the best fighter on her resume when we fight and that will be her downfall.”
For the sake of the fans let’s just hope that this does get made sooner rather than later! If so, then all this tough talk can get put to rest and we can finally resolve who is the superior boxer.
