Connor Coyle Calls For A Title Shot After Beating Kyle Lomotey

In a middleweight showdown, Connor “The Kid” Coyle (21-0, 9KO) got the victory over Kyle Lomotey (12-2, 2KO) in lackluster fashion.

After being out of the ring for almost a year, The Kid used the early rounds to shake off the ring rust. Once he got going it was full speed ahead with the jab and hard shots to the body.

Coyle fought well off the front foot landing the straight right hand over the low southpaw jab of Lomotey. In the middle rounds, there wasn’t much going on as both fighters did more moving around the ring than fighting.

To his credit, Coyle picked up the pace going into the final rounds. Yet, his performance still left a lot to be desired. After being awarded the fight by the referee, the WBA #2 rated contender called out WBA champion Erislandy Lara.

In the post-fight interview, Coyle’s trainer supported his fighter’s quest for a world title saying that a fight with Lara is what they want. In this author’s opinion, he needs one more fight before looking at the Cuban world champion.
