Crawford Puts Danny Garcia and Keith Thurman on his Blacklist
Two-division undisputed champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31KO) reminisced about his troubles when trying to get fights with the big names in the division. Two former champions he particularly singled out were Danny “Swift” Garcia (37-3, 21KO) and Keith “One Time” Thurman (30-1, 22KO). Surprisingly, he expressed no interest in fighting either of the former champions.
The history between Bud and the Premier Boxing Champions stable runs deep. It was believed by those inside the boxing community that PBC was purposely freezing him out of the loop because he fought under the Top Rank banner.
A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE
Former unified champion Errol Spence Jr. coined the phrase: “He’s on the other side of the street,” when first asked about fighting Crawford in the past. There was a time when PBC would not acknowledge Crawford’s existence when talking about the top welterweights in the division. This was happening while he was the WBO champion, no less.
Fast forward, Bud dominated Spence when they finally met on July 29. Yet, he did leave Top Rank before the fight came to fruition. After taking jabs at his rivals, he continued by listing a few things that were said during that time frame.
The two-time undisputed champion is locked into a rematch with Spence that could take place before the year ends. Lately, Crawford has been campaigning for a fight with undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Crawford has been enjoying the spoils of victory and believes he is finally getting the treatment he deserves. It will be interesting to see what Swift and One Time say in response.
