Curtis Stevens Returns After Year Layoff!

Curtis Stevens

Middleweight contender Curtis Stevens is back in action July 21 against unknown Carlos Jairo Cruz in a 12 round bout.

Curtis Stevens hasn’t fought since suffering a one-punch KO loss to former IBF champion David Lemieux last March. The knockout was so brutal that many believed Stevens may have fought his last professional bout.

In addition, this fight will be the headliner of a card held in the Dominican Republic.

Cruz (18-2, 16KO) is a Dominican fighter who had a great start to his career going 17-0 with 11 knockouts in his native country. Unfortunately, he lost back-to-back fights by knockout in late 2016 and 2017.

He recently achieved a second round TKO victory over a fighter who only had three fights with 1 win out of the three. This seems to be a tune up fight for the more experienced Stevens who’ll be looking to get back in the win column.

The story here will be whether or not Stevens can rebound from the KO loss to Lemieux. If Cruz can get a miracle win here, it may definitely be the end of the road for Stevens.
