Gervonta Davis fires back at Ryan Garcia!
When taking the fighters of the lightweight division into account, there is no denying the weight class is loaded with great fighters.
Out of these boxers, however, there is no denying the star power of Gervonta “Tank” Davis (23-0, 22 KO’s) and Ryan “The Flash” Garcia (19-0, 16 KO’s). Of course the two disagree on who is actually turning more heads!
WHO’S THE MAN?!
Apparently, Davis has taken issue with Garcia claiming to be the biggest feature in town. While on the Sirius XM: AK and Barak boxing channel, the Flash went on record saying that thinks of himself as being the dominate boxing attraction.
Not only did Garcia boast top social dog status, he called Davis out by name when saying he was the bigger star.
Tank himself is coming off a harder than expected 12th round knockout win over former unified featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa. Despite going far deeper in the bout than anyone foresaw, Davis did enjoy an impressive venue debut in Atlanta, GA.
Tank was able to secure large crowds at the open work out, weigh-in and is said to have sold out the State Farm Arena. Leonard Ellerbe, a chief member of his promotional team, has long stated that Davis is the premiere star in not just the division but in all of boxing.
Therefore, it was only natural that the Baltimore pugilist responded to Garcia’s bravado.
THE SOCIAL MEDIA WARS RAGE ON
Davis reposted a graphic made of the Flash’s statement regarding himself as being the bigger star. The WBA “regular” lightweight champion has proved time and time again that he can and will say quite a lot at any given time.
On this go around, however, he opted to keep it short and sweet. Tank simply asked the Flash to show some receipts when it came to ticket sales.
For those familiar with Davis, they will know he is no stranger to social media beef. He has had cantankerous words for fellow fighters in his own division all the way up to WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder!
The real question is, will this current texting spat turn into an actual fight or remain a simple session of unsubstantial smack talking?
Let’s just hope that these fingers of fury ultimately reward us with some actual in the ring fisticuffs. Garcia is already on record stating he wants to fight Tank by December. Let’s see if he gets what he is looking for.
In any event, 3kingsboxing will be on deck to report all the latest and relevant disclosures to this ongoing story.
