Oscar De La Hoya Ready to Hammer Out a Deal for Tank Davis v Ryan Garcia!
After witnessing Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (23-0, 19KOs) dispose of former WBA Regular 130-pound champion Javier Fortuna (37-4-1-2, 26KOs) in his six rounds, Oscar De La Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions CEO, is putting steady pressure on Gervonta Davis (27-0, 25KOs) to fight Garcia.
In a video put out on social media, the famous fighter-turned-promoter laid out why a deal could be easy to make.
“The bottom line is that we want to make the fight happen. Tank Davis, have your people call my people, or my people will call your people. It should be on Showtime and DAZN because they’re the broadcasting partners for each individual; it’s only fair. And we can stage it in Las Vegas, easy as that.”
The full-court press has been in effect from Garcia on Davis for the last two years now. With King Ry coming off the heels of a solid win, the time for the two to finally meet is now. There remains an uncertainty on behalf of Davis, who’s a promotional free agent but has wavered off the comments of being done with Floyd Mayweather and Mayweather promotions.
LET’S GET IT DONE!
Needless to say, if everybody is onboard to make the fight happen with a target date of December, there’s plenty of time to get a deal done. Especially considering De La Hoya’s pushing for it to be a joint broadcast. With the popularity of both fighters growing, there’s certainly a case to be made where this is a justified stance for De La Hoya to take. Davis, a champion in three weight classes, has already established himself as a PPV fighter. Garcia, on the other hand, has not in terms of his reputation in boxing. However, he has a massive following on social media, Gatorade commercials, and numerous endorsement deals to his name.
With all that being said, let’s just hope these two fighters and their teams can reach a deal for this fight to happen.
