Tiger Johnson Decisions Yomar Alamo After Early Adversity
Junior welterweight prospect Delante “Tiger” Johnson (14-0, 6KO) overcame early adversity to pick up the victory over Yomar “The Magic” Alamo (22-3-1, 13KO).
Tiger got tested in this fight as the more experienced Alamo managed to hurt the top prospect in the second round. After recovering, Johnson used those educated feet to box behind the jab and attacked the body fighting at mid-range.
The Magic kept coming forward landing hard shots to the body with Johnson against the ropes. Alamo’s confidence was building as the Ohioan was forced to hold to halt his offense. This fight began to heat up going into the closing rounds. Tiger had to dig deep and started landing hard body shots and uppercuts when they were in close. He was warned by the referee for holding too much.
Alamo was relentless and found a home for some counter righthands. In addition, he brought the crowd alive in the closing rounds by landing the more eye-catching shots.
When the final bell sounded, two judges scored it 78-74 and one saw it 77-75, in favor of Johnson.
