Chisora Rallies Joe Joyce With A Late Knockdown For The UD
In a heavyweight Fight of the Year candidate, ageless wonder Derek “War” Chisora (35-13, 23KO) rallied late with a knockdown picking up the unanimous decision win over “Juggernaut” Joe Joyce (16-3, 15KO).
During the build-up to the fight, both men promised it was going to be a shootout, and they delivered. After a slow first round, it turned into a war as Juggernaut came forward throwing hard blows and a flurry of shots.
Looking at this fight as his last hooray, War didn’t back down and took advantage of Joyce’s lack of head movement by landing several righthands.
As the fight continued, their chins were getting tested as both men traded hard shots while the crowd cheered.
This was an old-fashioned brawl. Joyce hurt Chisora on several occasions with hard righthands. But the ageless veteran’s will to continue was too strong as he came firing back.
The last two rounds will go down as the most memorable moments in boxing. Chisora, out on his feet, landed a counter right hand that dropped Joyce to the canvas. Then in the final round, they traded hard shots until the sound of the final bell.
One judge scored it 97-92, and two judges had it 96-94 for the ageless warrior in Chisora.
