Haney Has Alot To Prove In Upcoming Ramirez Fight
Two-divisional champion Devin “The Dream” Haney must look impressive against one-time unified junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez, on May 2.
Once considered a pound-for-pound fighter, The Dream has much to prove as questions about his mental state are under fire. In addition, he showed a low ring IQ as pundits pointed out his inability to avoid Ryan Garcia’s money punch. In addition, his filing of a lawsuit after Garcia tested positive for a banned substance wasn’t a good look.
With the possibility of a rematch against Garcia, Haney will have to erase that horrible performance from boxing fans’ minds. Ramirez is coming off a loss to Arnold Barboza in a close fight. So, it’s safe to say he is not a done fighter and can defeat a fragile-minded Haney.
Ramirez has respectable power, can box at mid-range, and has good defense. Furthermore, he is hungry to get into title contention as a welterweight.
Haney is under pressure to not only win but give fans a reason to believe he could win the rematch. A defeat could be a career killer for the two-divisional champion.
