WBC Lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (25-0, 15ko) could be finally getting his wish of a big fight against former unified champion Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (14-2, 10ko).

Earlier, 3kingsboxing was following this story between the divisional rivals and it seems things have quickly escalated. It all started when the WBC champion took to social media inquiring the whereabouts of Hi-Tech since losing to current unified champion Teofimo Lopez back on October 17, 2020. This would eventually lead to a heated exchange between both fighters. Now it seems a possible fight could take place shortly.

Haney has been consistent in wanting to fight the big names in the division. He expressed a desire to fight the former top pound-for-pound boxer back when he was the mandatory challenger. This was before the WBC placed the franchise tag on the Ukrainian boxer.

This is not their first go-around arguing on social media. The Dream was involved in a heated discussion with team Lomachenko over who within the inner circle requested the franchise tag.

CHALLENGED ISSUED AND ACCEPTED

After going back and forth over the past couple of days, the WBC champion issued a challenge letting the former champion know when they can get it on.

Hi-Tech is not one to be afraid of any smoke and quickly accepted.

The fans paying attention went ballistic and all the social media platforms went nuclear. Moreover, it is a much-needed fight for The Dream, especially with all the other divisional counterparts showing a lack of respect towards his championship status.

3kingsboxing will continue to monitor this story for further development.
