Doomed From The Beginning

It was never meant to be

Well folks you would have thought that Adrien Broner and Omar Figueroa’s legal issues might have been the only thing stopping them from stepping into the ring on April 21st. The fight is indeed off, but not for the reason i’ve just mentioned.

The two men were due to headline a Showtime Boxing Main Event, but Figueroa has suffered a rotator cuff injury and as such the bout will no longer take place.

‘The Problem’ (33-3, 24 knockouts) will remain on the card, and in the main event while they search for a new opponent. Given the fact that Broner can fight at 147 pounds it means searching for a new opponent could be more straightforward. Broner is coming off of a heavy one sided loss to Mikey Garcia last July, and is looking to get his career back on track. Although his arrest for allegedly groping a woman is not helping his cause.

Figueroa has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons himself, following a arrest for driving under the influence this January.

The card on April 21st will feature the long awaited return of Jermall Charlo, who fights Hugo Centento Jr for the WBC ‘Interim’ Middleweight crown.
