Daniel Dubois Ready for Big Fight with Trevor Bryan
Back on November 28, 2020, heavyweight contender Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (17-1, 16 KO’s) endured a stinging loss to Joe Joyce. At the time, it was the most meaningful fight of his career. The bout was a bit more meaningful due to the fact that both fighters were undefeated and didn’t necessarily need to face one another at that time. Seeking to establish himself as a premiere talent in the division however, Dynamite happily took the match.
Clearly, the fight did not go his way. Not only did he lose, Dubois would suffer an orbital fracture that led him to discontinue the match prematurely. As would be expected, the UK bruiser was bombarded with accusations of being a quitter and soft. Since that detrimental setback, Dynamite has collected two wins, both knockouts, against Bogdan Dinu and Joe Cusumano. Even with the loss, Dubois still holds a standing of #1 (WBA) and #6 (WBO).
LIFE CHANGE FOR THE GOOD OR BAD?
Now, Dubois is preparing for another terribly important dustup versus Regular WBA heavyweight champion Trevor Bryan (22-0, 15 KO’s) on June 11. Naturally the winner would be in an ideal position to take on the winner from the upcoming dustup between unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. As one would expect, Dynamite is not letting the significance of the moment get past him. He said the following in an interview with Boxing Social:
“On paper it’s the biggest fight in my life, so I am not taking anything for granted. But, I think I will go in there and do a job in devastating fashion!”
Provided that Dubois prevails in the duel with Bryan, he would place himself on the edge of becoming the most belt-holding champion in the division. Obviously, there are a number of moving parts in this scenario, yet Dynamite is on the precipice of re-steering his career into a seriously beneficial new direction. Yet, before we begin counting chickens before they are hatched, let’s see how Dubois handles his business on June 11!
