Eddie Hearn Building a Path Towards Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn
Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn is determined to arrange a highly anticipated showdown between family rivals Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (21-0, 14KO) and Chris Eubank Jr. (33-3, 24KO). Hearn wasted no time teasing boxing enthusiasts with a tantalizing tweet on social media.
After Eubank Jr. secured sweet revenge in a rematch against Liam Smith, his trainer, Brian “Bomac” McIntyre, swiftly called for a bout against Benn. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this matchup since Benn’s positive test for a banned substance led to the cancellation of their initial fight in October 2022.
During an interview with iFL TV, Hearn emphasized the fight’s enduring appeal in the United Kingdom:
“I texted Kalle [Sauerland] I think on the morning, I said, ‘Please win, or lose well!’ . . . If he lost well, Eubank-Benn fight – big fight. If he won, which he did, Eubank-Benn fight – absolutely huge . . . We’re going to try and make that fight, and we’re going to meet this week . . . But let’s be honest, that’s the biggest fight for both of them by a mile.”
Recently, Benn was cleared of any wrongdoing by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD). Shortly thereafter, UKAD announced their intention to appeal the decision. Nevertheless, Benn is free to step into the ring and is eager to face Eubank.
The boxing world eagerly anticipates whether this long-awaited clash will come to fruition in the near future.
