Edward Vazquez Easily Decisions Daniel Bailey
In a junior lightweight showdown, one-time title challenger Edward “The Kid” Vazquez (16-2, 3KO) got back in the win column with a victory over Daniel “The Dedication” Bailey (13-2, 6KO).
The fight seemed like it would end early after Bailey landed a hard right that hurt Vazquez. After surviving that onslaught, the one-time title challenger started applying the pressure and found a home for the left hook.
The Dedication tried to fight back with hard body shots and used his footwork to create distance to fire off the right hand. Yet, The Kid kept coming forward and landing the left hand and counter shots over his opponent’s low jab.
As the fight continued, the Texan’s effective aggression was a huge factor in this fight. He attacked the body and pinned his opponent in the corner. Vazquez used that championship experience to close out the fight strong.
Bailey went to the body and landed the occasional right hand fighting in spots. But, he couldn’t get any momentum going as Vazquez’s pressure and combination punches gave him trouble.
When the final bell sounded, the judges’ scorecards were 79-73, and two scores of 78-74 in favor of Vazquez. This was a good victory for the Texan as the road back toward a title shot is underway.
