Ellis Zorro Scores A Devastating Knockout Over Veteran Hosea Burton
In a sensational cruiserweight showdown, prospect Ellis Zorro (16-0, 7KO) may have ended the career of Hosea “The Hammer” Burton (28-4, 12KO) with a brutal knockout.
This was a huge step-up fight for Zorro, who came into the contest on the disadvantaged side in height, reach, and experience. When the fight got underway, Burton, the cousin of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, used that tall, long frame to keep Zorro at bay with the jab.
The fight would get tight as it continued, with both men having success drawing blood from each other. In the seventh round, Burton was beginning to take control of the fight before getting hit by an overhand right and left hook that had him in serious trouble.
After getting up from the canvas from a slip, Burton went crumbling to the canvas from a devastating right hand. The referee immediately called the doctor and training team into the ring to attend to The Hammer.
ZORRO IS ABOUT TO GET A BIG PUSH
During the build-up to the fight, the veteran fighter told iFL TV that a defeat is a sign that he needs to hang it up.
“If I can’t win this fight, this is the end of the story. This is as far as it goes . . . if I can’t beat someone like him, what good am I doing being a boxer?”

As one fighter’s chapter may have closed, Zorro is about to get a serious push following his biggest career victory. Equally important, he walked away with the vacant WBO European title, which typically helps propel the winner into the rankings.
At 30 years old, Zorro and the team must act fast if they want to align his name next to other fellow countrymen in the division like Chris Billam-Smith, Richard Riakporhe, and WBO champion Lawrence Okolie.
