Jaron Ennis looking to stop another previously never-before stopped fighter
Well it looks like rising welterweight contender Jaron “Boots” Ennis (26-0, 24 KO’s) will return to action this December 12. According to his father and chief second, Bozy Ennis, on that date Boots will face the challenge of Sebastian Formella (22-1, 10 KO’s). Formella was nearly completely unknown on the American fight scene until his August 22 showdown with former welterweight champion Shawn “Showtime” Porter (31-3-1, 17 KO’s).
[On next fight date] “December 12, with a guy that Shawn Porter couldn’t stop, a dude named Formella.”
Due to being a mystery to the American market, most believed Porter would brutally steamroll and stop him early. However, this only proved to be half correct. Showtime certainly did toss him a memorable beating. Yet, the German proved to be far more durable than the assumptions made about him. Instead of being chewed up and spit out quickly, he was mangled and assaulted for the twelve full rounds.
WE CAN DO IT BETTER
Now, as Bozy Ennis revealed to Fight Hype, Boots and crew want to show that they can produce a more impressive walloping. And if everything goes according to plan, Ennis is setting out to stop Formella. This game plan and mindset should not be surprising. The Philly bruiser is quickly earning a reputation as a dazzling pugilist with a knack for going for the kill.
This was the case in his last bout against Juan Carlos “Merengue” Abreu (23-6-1, 21 KO’s). Not only did Ennis score the knockout, he dumped him on the canvas a total of three times. Against Formella, he wants to remain just as impressive. But, there is a method to the mayhem as explained by his father and coach.
“Well, I want to show them that all the guys that Porter fight, that [Yordenis] Ugas fight, that [WBC and IBF world welterweight champion Errol] Spence fight, that [Jamal] James fight, all these guys we want to fight, to come right behind them and fight the same guys. And show them something different that we are going to do to them.”
“That’s why, and everybody say the way you are doing it is perfect because he just fought Porter. Porter is my man, him and his father, they are good people and I want to really test Boots. That’s what I really want to do because he went the distance with Porter, I’m going to see if he can go the distance with Boots. If Boots stops him, it will make another statement.”
“We were trying to get Omar Figueroa, that’s who I really want. I wanted him first but they turned us down.”
