Farmer Set For Another Crack At World Title

Farmer set to travel to Australia

Looks like Tevin Farmer will get another crack at a world title. Tevin Farmer will be facing Billy Dib for the vacant IBF Super Featherweight Title on August 3rd in Sydney, Australia.

Farmer loss by decision to Kenichi Ogawa in December of last year for the vacant IBF title, in a bout that many felt he won. After the bout Ogawa tested positive for synthetic testosterone and was quickly stripped of his title. The bout outcome was changed to a No Contest by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Ogawa got suspended for six months as well, with the fact that many felt Farmer won the bout and his opponent was proven to be a cheater, it’s only fair he gets another opportunity at the world title.

The IBF moved to rectify the situation and went ahead and made the order for Farmer to face Dib for the title. Dib, a former IBF featherweight titlist, was last in the ring in December of last year, defeating Phum Kunmat by unanimous decision.

Farmer will look to bounce back from a rough 2017, losing by decision in a contest he should of won. Prior to that he was shot at a family function while trying to disarm a person who shot his brother. The young man looks to make his dreams come true and has totally dedicated himself to the sport, which wasn’t the case early in his career.

Dib is looking to become a world champion once again in his second division. He was last scene in a major world title fight losing to Takashi Muira back in 2015. A bout he lost by third round TKO for the WBC Super Featherweight Title.
