Felix Verdejo to battle Bryan Vasquez for the WBA “Gold” title

3kingsboxing.com has learned Felix Verdejo will take on Bryan Vasquez for the WBA “Gold” lightweight title.

The fight will take place on the under-card of Terence Crawford vs Amir Khan April 20.

This will Verdejo’s first fight of 2019 and his second since suffering his first career defeat in 2018 against Antonio Lozada. In his last fight, he scored a second round knockout over Yardley Amenta Cruz.

Vasquez is riding a two fight win streak since losing a majority decision to Ray Beltran in August of 2017.

Neither man is ranked in the top 15 rankings of the WBA, so this bout for their gold title may come as a surprise. However, a win here puts either in a position for a shot at the WBA regular title.

Moreover, an opportunity to face super champion Vasiliy Lomachenko should he defeat Anthony Crolla the week prior.

This is yet another chance for Verdejo to prove he’s still a fighter fans should keep their eyes on moving forward.
