Terry Flanagan to fight at the O2
In an interesting turn of events it seems that the fight for the WBO light welterweight crown vacated by Terence Crawford is now slated to take place at London’s O2 arena.
You’ll remember 3Kingsboxing.com brought you news that former WBO lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan would move up to contest for the vacant title against Texan Maurice Hooker [link below]. But we were unsure of where and when that may be.
It was originally thought that the bout would take place in Manchester. The Copper Box Arena which Warren has made home for his cards in recent times was then mentioned. But we have now learned that the O2 is the likely venue with a double header being mentioned, as Billy Joe Saunders could make the next defence of his WBO Middleweight crown.
What I find so intriguing about this is that Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom has made the O2 home in recent years. This is a clear sign of ambition from Warren to put on bigger cards and relive the many, many big nights of boxing we have seen from him in the past.
