Andrzej Fonfara announces retirement ahead of a scheduled bout with Edwin Rodriguez
Longtime light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara has announced his retirement from boxing!
3kingsboxing.com previously reported that Fonfara was expected to meet Edwin Rodriguez at cruiserweight. March 9 is the date the fight would have taken place, in addition to being on the under-card of Shawn Porter vs Yordenis Ugas.
Throughout his career he provided fans with many exciting fights, in addition, pulling off a few upsets in the process.
Arguably his two biggest wins came against Chad Dawson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr; stopping both former champions. Furthermore, other notable names on his resume include Glen Johnson, Gabriel Campillo and Tommy Karpency.
He also challenged twice for the WBC light heavyweight title coming up short both times against former champion Adonis Stevenson.
His last bout came against former highly touted light heavyweight prospect Ismayl Sillah. He won that fight by sixth round knockout.
He finishes his career with a record of (30-5, 18KO).
