Frank Martin Targeting All The Top Names At Lightweight!

The lightweight division has been officially put on notice by Frank “The Ghost” Martin (17-0, 12KO). He showed what all the fuss was about by outclassing top contender Michel “La Zarza Ali” Rivera (24-1, 14KO).

The moment this fight was announced brought excitement to the boxing community. It is rare in boxing that two top, undefeated fighters of this caliber risk their record and their place in line for a title shot by fighting each other. The WBA rewarded the two combatants for their willingness to take a risk by making their fight a title eliminator.

On December 17, Martin put on a performance that made the entire boxing community take notice. In what was supposed to be a 50/50 fight, The Ghost quickly separated himself ahead of Rivera by scoring a lopsided victory. In addition, his victory swiftly took him from a prospect to a serious contender.

MARTIN IS READY FOR THE TOP GUYS

The lightweight division is stacked with mouth-watering fights, and the Indiana native believes he is ready for all the guys at the top. During the post-fight interview, Martin wasted no time in dropping their names when asked what is next.

“We want them all. Shit, we can get Gervonta Davis, we can get Devin Haney, we can get any of those types of guys, we ready. I see Rolly (Romero) in here. Rolly, my guy, we can get it in too. Let’s make it happen.”

Martin fights under the banner of unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr’s Man Down Promotions. Moreover, he left his home state of Indiana to live in Texas to be trained by Derrick James alongside his mentor and undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo. The boxing community will be watching to see what he does next heading into 2023.
