Stephen Fulton and Brandon Figueroa Agree To Rematch After War of Words
Unified super bantamweight champion Stephen “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton (20-0, 8 KO’s) has been on social media clapping back at anyone out here speaking wrong on his name. Former world champion Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa (22-1-1, 17 KO’s) is the latest to trade words with the unified champion.
In November 2021, Cool Boy Steph and The Heartbreaker embarked on an instant classic of an old-school back and forth phonebooth fight. Both champions showed their heart that night, and by the end of the fight, they received a standing ovation from the crowd.
It was a very close fight that could have gone either way, but Fulton walked away with both belts, winning via majority decision. Figueroa was not happy with the decision and confronted Fulton. As the two went back and forth in a heated debate, Fulton suggested a rematch. However, Figueroa mentioned moving up in weight.
Figueroa has had a change of heart and wants to run it back, after all. Furthermore, the Heartbreaker revealed that he told Premier Boxing Champion top dog Al Haymon, on two occasions, he wanted the rematch.
HOW IT STARTED
Fans questioned if Figueroa was afraid to rematch Fulton, after news dropped of the upcoming title defense against former unified champion Daniel “The Babyface Assassin” Roman. Figueroa quickly responded by claiming he is not afraid of the unified champion.
Unsuprisingly, Fulton, like a hawk, responded, making it clear that he also is about that life. Moreover, he wants the fans to know that Figueroa is doing all the capping.
As the two continued arguing, it became clear they still harbored harsh feelings from their first encounter. Figueroa pointed out how he had Fulton on the run and is eager to trade leather again. Fulton expressed feeling disrespected by Figueroa after the first fight, and he wants him to keep the same energy when it comes to fighting in the rematch.
