Stephen Fulton Gets New Fight Date

For junior featherweight contender Stephen “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton (18-0, 8 KO’s) August 1 was supposed to be his next fight date. Had everything gone according to plan, he would have locked horns with Angelo “El Chinito” Leo (19-0, 9 KO’s) in the main event of a SHOWTIME Boxing telecast. Sadly however, Cool Boy Steph was pulled from the card when it was discovered that he had contracted COVID-19.

Making matters worse, the canceled fight date going to be Fulton’s first attempt at a world title. The bout with Leo was for the WBO junior featherweight title recently vacated by Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete (31-1, 27 KO’s). Luckily for him, Fulton has already been issued a new fight date.

After receiving the news himself, Fulton was quick to take to his social media to let it be known he would not be out of the limelight for long. So as it stands now, Leo will face Tramaine “The Mighty Midget” Williams (19-0, 6 KO’s) in place of Cool Boy Steph on August 1. Then within 180 days of that prizefight, the victor will have to face the challenge of Fulton.

This is certainly not the outcome that the Philly fighter was looking for. However, it definitely beats being left out in the cold altogether!
