Sebastian Fundora Prefers a Duel with Jermell Charlo for All the Belts!

When Interim WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (19-0-1, 13 KO’s) last slid into the ring, most expected a tough fight. Fundora was scheduled to face Erickson Lubin in a critical title eliminator. The general consensus held that it would be a fun, competitive match. It turned into a wildly entertaining Fight of the Year candidate.

Throughout the nine rounds that it lasted, the action was constant, the ebb and flow shifted regularly and the two fighters traded knockdowns. In the end, after his face gave way to horrendous swelling, Lubin’s corner threw in a merciful white towel of surrender. With the crucial win, Fundora has secured himself a very big fight in the near future.

BRING ME IRON MAN!

Now that he has forcefully procured the interim title for himself, Fundora can sit back and await the outcome of the upcoming duel between WBA Super, IBF and WBC super welterweight champion Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (34-1-1, 18 KO’s) and WBO 154-pound champion Brian Castano.

Their May 14 dustup will aim to crown the undisputed champion of the division. The bout will actually be a rematch to their July 17, 2021 prizefight which ended in an unfavorable draw. If given his preference though, as he explained to Fight Hype, the Towering Inferno would more easily cozy up to the idea of dancing with Charlo.

“Charlo has three of the belts right now so for him to win this, I see it not easily happening, but it’s the one that’s going to happen. And if we could just go take it all from him that would be great!

[…] I feel like we get the job done with him too! You know, he is another fighter that likes to sit there and bang and trust his power. And just like him we trust our power too, I just think that we’re stronger!”

Now, like Fundora, we all must first wait to see what Charlo and Castano do. Yet, it’s clear that no viewer will be more heavily invested than Sebastian Fundora!
