Tyson Fury Challenges Oleksandr Usyk to Come Take the WBC Title!

Never one to be at a loss for words, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (32-0-1, 23 KO’s) has another mouthful of a memorable tirade. This time Fury aimed his tongue lashing at unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KO’s). Usyk is coming off his second consecutive points win over two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

During the post-fight formalities, Usyk took the time to specifically call out Fury. In fact, he went so far as to say that is the only fight that he wants, period. Despite his straight-forward approach, there was no way to know what The Gypsy King was going to do. Over the past few weeks and months, Fury has gone back and forth on the status of his retirement.

TELL ‘EM HOW YOU FEEL!

Whether Fury was going to accept the fight or not, it obvious that Usyk secured his attention!

“You say you want the WBC [heavyweight title] and it’s held by gypsies. It is held by gypsies – it’s held by The Gypsy King – and it’s held tightly. Grasped tight! And all roads lead to a seven foot behemoth that will absolutely destroy you, middleweight. Middleweight, you will get smashed to bits! You said you wanted to fight me after you beat the bodybuilder [Joshua], called me out on television and now you’re being a little bitch, pussy boy – running, hiding, saying you’ve got injuries.

You ain’t got no injuries – you had a sparring contest. Get out and fight in December. You let your mouth go, now see if you can back it up, middleweight. It doesn’t matter if it’s December or April or August next year, the outcome will be the same. I will obliterate you. I’m a seven foot, twenty-stone behemoth and I will destroy you, middleweight. Find your balls, come see me. Bitch!”

THE MIC IS YOURS

Given the rationales that Usyk presented for why he is not returning this year, it’s outrageously unlikely that the Ukrainian will be goaded into a fight based off of mere trash talk. Yet, again, it is somewhat reassuring to hear that both men are highly interested in piecing together this potentially historic duel. In the meantime however, let’s see how, or if, Usyk responds to this colorful retort.
