Tyson Fury throws a shot at Oleksandr Usyk!
The man that likes to call fighters “Big Dossers” is at it again! Former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20KO) takes a shot at former unified champion Oleksandr Usyk (17-0, 13KO).
In reply to a social media video posted by DiBella Entertainment head, Lou DiBella promoting his 6’7″ heavyweight protege from Uzbekistan, Bakhodir Jalolov (6-0, 6KO), WBO President Paco Valcarcel stated he would like to see the “new kid on the block” face the likes of Fury.
The former unified champion replied!
Now the part about Valcarcel taking Fury out of the rankings doesn’t seem to be “in context” here. Simply because the statement suggests that Fury would be up to facing Jalolov if he were still ranked by the WBO.
However, the Uzbek, currently with only six bouts, is not ranked by the WBO. Therefore, even if Fury was still ranked, that fight would more than likely not be entertained.
On the other hand, the jab at Usyk was very straight-forward. The former curiserweight undisputed champion immediately took the #1 position when he moved up to heavyweight.
Per the WBO rules, if one of their champions decides to move to a different division, he/she can be named the immediate mandatory in the new division.
Fury doesn’t care about the logistics! He only sees a “new-comer” appear in his division and overtaking what he and many others believe is the most skilled fighter at heavyweight!
Hopefully, that time will come where Fury will get to welcome Usyk personally!
