Gabriel Flores Receives Wide Scorecards Against Jose Arellano
In a lightweight showdown, Gabriel Flores Jr (26-2, 8KO) receives a questionable unanimous decision over Jose Arellano (11-3, 6KO).
Flores came out the gate on fire with hard shots that dropped Arellano in the first round. As the fight continued, he did a good job of working off the jab.
Yet, Arellano started attacking the body and landed some eye-catching counters. As he changed the course of the fight, Arellano fought well off the front foot over in the middle rounds.
Flores barely did anything for the majority of the rounds in the second half of the fight.
Down the stretch, Arellano picked up the pace and started taking over the fight with hooks and hard right hands. His effective punching while stalking Flores was the story of the fight.
In the final round, Flores brought the crowd to life after landing a punishing hook that dropped Arellano to the canvas. Fighting as if his life depended on it, he continued to land hard shots until the final bell sounded. Despite the surge in the last round, it may be a case of too little too late.
The three judges cards were 95-93, 99-89, and 98-90 for Flores. These were disgusting scorecards as 3kingsboxing scored it 96-92 for Arellano.
